I'm sure you heard lots of things before you come to Canada like: "it's very tough to find a job in Canada", "You're ganna work in a gas station while you are an engineer!", "It's almost impossible to get a job in your profession!", and bla bla bla ...!!
Actually this is all FALSE and destructive statements. I'm not trying to say that it's EASY to find a job in Canada, however, if you are good at your profession, competitive, and have good communication skills, then you're going to find a job! because simply companies need your skills.
Now, here are some To-Do-List you need to do to back yourself up with to be ready to work in Canada:

- Work hard on your English language skills before you come to Canada. It's vital to be good communicator in English before you come here, because even if you are very professional in what you do but not able to communicate your skills then you ca not survive. Check this post for details: Just Landed - Learning English
- Load your mind with the positive thinking, you can do it as long as other could. As i mentioned in the introduction, i got a job as a Project Manager after 2 months and 20 days of landing!
- Look for professional certificates in your industry, like PMP (Project Management Professional), Microsoft Certificates, or ITIL ...etc. Professional Certificates are highly recognized in Canada and will help you significantly in finding a job. Almost every industry has one or more certificate.
- Canadian Experience: most of people think that Canadian Experience is only work experience in Canada, which is wrong! in fact it means your LIFE experience in Canada and your ability to understand what people are talking about, respond to questions like "what is the nearest intersection?" for example, laugh on Canadian joks. So it's your Canadian cultural experience! Try to MERGE in the Canadian society as much as you can from your day one in Canada.

Great blog.
I'm a Canadian-based Career Management Expert and work with many clients in the situations you mentioned. It's not all doom and gloom. It's a different culture and you have to be more aggressive than in your home country.
Despite the economic slowdown, Canada is still a great place to find a new appointment.
Best of luck to you all!
thanks for ur great guidance...keep it up. one question...what type of certification is counted for most? is it MCSE, CCNA, RHCE, OCP, CEH??
